It was wonderful to have students back this week! We very much enjoyed welcoming them and settling into our new routines. Students enjoyed seeing the fresh coat of paint the school received over the summer and the bright classroom doors. Please stop by the school to check it out when you have a chance!
Canyon School will be participating in this year’s 45th Anniversary of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope on September 19th at 12:15pm. This will be a whole school walk with classes walking together. Parents and community members are invited to join us on the walk. Please help show your support by donating to our school’s online fundraising page. Fundraising Link: https://schools.terryfox.ca/
Just a reminder that our morning supervision begins at 8:20am. Please do not send students to school before 8:20am unless there is an accompanying adult with them. Buses are also not to release students until 8:20am. At the end of the day there is supervision by the bus gate until the last bus arrives. Bus students are to wait by their bus plate to ensure they get on the bus. All other students are to head directly home to check-in with caregivers.
This past July the government of Alberta released a Ministerial Order (#030/2025) regarding the selection, availability and access to school library materials in schools. This order has been put on pause and we will provide updates as they become available.
We have had positive feedback on the - Canyon2Go - app for sharing outgoing school communication. Please be sure to sign up and subscribe to your child's homeroom class. The app is free for parents to use. Parents are able to send attendance notifications when children are absent, as well as, access our school news. Along with using the student agenda, teachers will also be sending home classroom communication and reminders through this app. To offset some of the cost for the app, parents have the option to contribute $7.00 if they wish. The app is still accessible for free, even without contributing to the cost. We very much appreciate parent support by keeping up with classroom communication for school activities and learning throughout the year.
Our Booster Society met this past week to start plans for the year. We very much thank them for their contributions! To kick of the year, please join us for the Welcome Back BBQ next Thursday the 11th from 5-7pm. If you are able to help out with the BBQ, please email Lindsey at lindsey.c.koster@icloud.com or text 403-339-0295. Booster will be collecting empty bottles at the BBQ so please bring some to help fill a trailer! Thank you. We look forward to seeing you there!
