Canyon School is pleased to be able to offer a preschool program for children age 3 or 4 by December 31 of the current school year. Canyon Cubs Preschool is a Reggio-inspired program which is play-based, guided by children's interests, and includes time spent outside each day.
At Canyon Cubs Preschool, we view a child as a competent, capable and natural researcher who has the desire for knowledge and life and is always ready for challenges. It is our belief that children learn best when they feel safe, calm, and loved. Our goal is to create an environment in which each child feels valued and is a respected member of our classroom community. We encourage children to develop social skills including self-control, respect for others, and positive self-esteem.
We value parents as participants in their child's learning process. Family involvement in the preschool program gives children a sense of security and is deeply appreciated. The teacher plays a critical role by being the child’s partner and recognizing many learning possibilities. We observe, document, inquire, reflect, and build on children's experiences and interests.
Canyon Cubs Preschool registrations can be made through the Canyon School office, or by contacting our Preschool Educator, Jolaine Kelly (firstname.lastname@example.org). When registering, an Alberta Health Care number and birth certificate are required.
As preschool programs are not funded by Alberta Education, monthly fees are applied to fund the program. These fees may change from year to year. Some fund-raising events are held during the year to help offset the cost of the program for families. For more information, please view our brochure or contact the Canyon School office.
