We had another great week of learning here at Canyon! Our month end assembly was fun and it was wonderful to acknowledge students, parents and staff for their contributions and accomplishments. We send a special thanks to our volunteer volleyball coaches Mrs. Fredette, Mrs. Hilton and Mrs. Harris for supporting our volleyball season and coaching last Friday. Thank you to Mrs. Matthews for sponsoring student volleyball!
Students also enjoyed participating in the Reading Challenge this week. The winning classes are: Grade 2A Mrs. Mensaghi and Mrs. Matthews, Grade 3/4B Miss McCracken and Grade 5/6C Mrs. Simpson. Mrs. Simpson's class is the record holder with 5,350 minutes read. We appreciate our Booster Club for sponsoring daily draw prizes and the class prizes. Thank you to all parents for your continued support with routine reading!

During some of our teacher team meetings we have been discussing more explicit teaching for children around the importance of getting enough sleep each day. Some students are arriving to school tired and not ready for learning. At times, students report they were up late playing video games. Jocelyn, our FSLC, has sent out some information for parents around sleep and limiting screen time. Please read her message here.
Report cards will go home on Monday. Student conferences will be held on Thursday, December 5th from 4-8pm and Friday, December 6th from 8:30-1:30pm. There is no school for students next Friday. Please visit here to book your conference.
