Canyon School Weekly Memo

March 29th, 2024

"The Canyon School Community will nurture caring, respectful citizens who embrace lifelong learning."

It was another busy and wonderful week at Canyon School. Grades 1 and 3 had the opportunity to swim and our Grade 2's finished up their bowling. Our week ended with a Subway lunch and an assembly to celebrate our basketball season and kick-off our Jump Rope for Heart fundraising.

We'd like to thank students from Mrs. Simpson's Grade 5 class for hosting the Jump Rope for Heart assembly today. They did an excellent job! This year all fundraising will be done online. Information sheets went home today on how to register. To register on Canyon's school page, please go here and select register.  Did you know Canyon has been fundraising for the Heart and Stroke Foundation since 1999 and has raised over $190,000?  This is incredible and we are excited to continue supporting this cause and important research.

Our Grade 6 students continue to raise funds for field trips! They are currently selling spring plants. If you are interested in supporting this fundraiser, please go here to order. The order deadline is this weekend!

Our Early Learning program is raising funds towards an outdoor shade shelter and age appropriate playground equipment. They are selling seeds. If you are interested in purchasing seeds, please visit here.

Finally, Day on the Creek planning is underway and will be on May 16th. The Day on the Creek organizers are looking for volunteers. If you or someone you know would like to volunteer your time and/or expertise for the day, please contact Nora Manners at nmanners@watertonbiosphere.com  If you would like to volunteer to attend with your child's class, please contact their teacher directly. Thank you.

Have a wonderful Easter break. Stay healthy and stay safe. There is a solar eclipse happening on Monday when we return. Please visit here to learn more from our school division about students remaining indoors during this eclipse. We look forward to seeing students back then!

Enjoy this time with your children and be very well.
